The Asthma Clinic at Central Pediatrics
When a child is diagnosed with asthma there is a lot the family must learn and it can be overwhelming at times. For this reason we have introduced an Asthma Clinic where families can learn more about asthma and how to treat their child’s disease. Families will be given an overview of the illness, review the various triggers and review medications used to treat asthma and develop an individualized Asthma Action Plan as a guideline to treat their disease. Children over age 5 will learn Spirometry which is a test for lung function that can be used to monitor their asthma. We are also starting an Asthma Registry. This helps us to identify asthmatics within our clinic and give appropriate follow-up care. It allows our staff to periodically call and find out how the child is doing and remind them of their next appointment. If you would like to find out more about these programs or think your child may benefit from these services, please talk to your provider or call our clinic.
