This is the web site of Children's Hospitals and Clinics, our local children's hospitals in St. Paul and Minneapolis. It features a section entitled, "Children's Dr. Plain Talk" which contains information on child health and parenting. Just click on the phrase "For Parents" for this section.

Children's Physician Network is the most complete pediatric care system in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, with over 200 primary care pediatricians and nurse practitioners and more than 500 subspecialty physicians located throughout the metropolitan area. Here you will find information on everything from immunizations to asthma care, from school physicals to cardiac care.

The American Academy of Pediatrics is a frequent source of information for pediatricians nationwide. The site features a keyword search for topics of interest. There is information on immunizations, safety, current "hot topics" in children's healthcare, and a link to a bookstore for AAP parent educational materials. There's also a special section entitled "You and Your Family". Founded and sponsored by major medical societies.

AAP/AMA/NHI/ACAAI - If you're looking for information on just about everything involving children and adolescents, this is the place to go. This site contains a medical library to search specific illnesses, with discussion of current treatment guidelines. Just click on the "Medical Library" prompt, and choose "Children's Health".

The Center for Disease Control site provides information about diseases, vaccination, traveling, current outbreaks, rumors and hoaxes.

The HCMC Poison Control Center website is an excellent site for poison control issues. It features a poison safety guide, plant guide, safety checklist for common household poisonings, and FAQs regarding poison control in your home. Special section: preschoolers and poisoning.

The topics covered in the American Academy of Child/Adolescent Psychiatry site could serve as a starting point for families who have questions regarding behavioral/mental health issues in their children.

The National Health and Transportation Safety Administration/DOT organization promotes car seat safety, and the site includes clear pictures of how to appropriately install and secure your child's car seat.

The MN Child Passenger Safety Program website is dedicated to child passenger safety. It also shows how to install/secure safety seats, gives helpful guidelines for purchase, posts recall/safety notices, and provides tips for buying car seats for children with special needs.

The National Institute on Media and the Family is locally operated in Minneapolis, and is dedicated to developing media-saavy families. There is a movie, TV and video/computer game rating system("Kidscore") for parents who want more information on the programs/games their children or adolescents are viewing; media awareness programs; and helpful hints for parents/families to evaluate media use.
