Virtual Encounters We know that not every medical concern requires an office visit—or even a video appointment. Through our secure patient portal, families can communicate directly with our clinical team regarding certain medical concerns, often without the need for a face-to-face encounter. Send a portal message Using information you provide, along with photos when appropriate, one of our pediatricians can evaluate, recommend treatment, prescribe medications, complete forms, or determine whether an in-person visit is needed. Portal-based virtual encounters may be appropriate for: Rashes, acne, and other skin concerns (photos may be requested) Swimmer’s ear and draining ear tubes Sinus Infection (sinusitis) over 10 years of age Pink eye (conjunctivitis) over 3 years of age Ear pain in children ages 5 and older (with submitted photos when appropriate) Preventive medications following certain exposures or illnesses, including Lyme disease, pertussis (whooping cough), influenza, and COVID-19 Seasonal allergies Initial constipation concerns and follow-up care ADHD medication adjustments Mental health medication follow-up and adjustments School, sports, camp, and other medical forms or paperwork Travel health consultations and recommendations Not every concern can be safely managed through portal messaging. If your child’s symptoms require a more comprehensive evaluation, our team will help arrange a telehealth or in-person visit. Because these encounters involve medical decision-making and pediatrician time, portal-based virtual encounters may be billed to your insurance and may result in patient responsibility depending on your specific coverage.
